Upcoming Skoda Superb Laurin &
Klement edition spotted testing
Sponsored by Club Mahindra
It’s no secret that Skoda is preparing to
launch the Superb luxury Sedan in our
four-wheeler market. And not
surprisingly pictures of the Skoda Superb
Laurin & Klement being tested in India
has emerged. This signals the fact that
Skoda will available in various trim levels
with the new Superb Laurin & Klement
being the top end variant. The new Skoda
Superb is based on the Volkswagen
developed MQB platform and will have
more space and be lighter than its
predecessor.
In the international market the Skoda
Superb Laurin & Klement is loaded with
features to the brim. The car gets
equipped with standard features like
electronically adjustable front seats,
adaptive suspension, three driving
modes, heated seats, climate control,
parking sensor and keyless entry. Other
goodies on the Skoda Superb Laurin &
Klement consist of 8.0-inch touchscreen
infotainment system, bi-xenon
headlamps, 18-inch multi-spoke alloy
wheels and the unique umbrellas tucked
in front doors. Whether all these features
will be offered on the India-spec Skoda
Superb Laurin & Klement remains
questionable.
Talking about powerplant, the Skoda
Superb will be available in both petrol
and diesel options. The Luxury sedan will
be powered by the 1.8-litre TSI petrol
and 2.0-litre TDI diesel mills which will
be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch
transmission. It wouldn’t be the first
occasion that the Laurin & Klement trim
level will be offered in India as in the
past it was available for the Octavia and
Laura. The new Skoda Superb is
expected to make its Indian debut at the
2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi early next
year. The new Skoda Superb is expected
to be priced between Rs 25 to 30 lakh in
India. Talking about competition, it will
compete with the likes of new
Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Camry and
also pit against more premium but
smaller sedans like the Mercedes-Benz
CLA and Audi A3
Source.
